Tasks & boards

What didn't get done?

Work that is not on a screen is work that depends on somebody remembering. Lunix puts it on a board with your own stages, an owner and a date — including the repairs, which move between columns without opening a single order.

How it works today

1The jobs live on a whiteboard, a group chat and three people's memories.
2Nobody is sure who was supposed to do it, so it gets done twice or not at all.
3The same small thing gets forgotten every month, and nobody notices it is the same thing.

How it works in Lunix

The list you actually open twice: what is late

A board is only useful if it can tell you what is wrong with itself. Filter by person, sort by what is overdue, and the honest list appears: late, due today, and the ones nobody ever put a name on. Completed tasks stay on the list for three days before they are archived, so a morning stand-up can still see what closed yesterday.

Five fields, each one there because of a way work goes missing

A task in Lunix is not a line of text. It has somebody's name on it, a date it is judged against, a priority that decides what gets dropped when the day goes wrong, subtasks for the jobs that are really five jobs, and a recurring switch for the work that comes back whether or not anyone writes it down again.

Workspace · Anatomy of a task
AssigneeOne name, not the group. An unassigned task is the one that does not get done.
Due dateWhat «late» is measured against, and what the overdue filter reads.
PriorityDecides what gets dropped on the day three things go wrong at once.
SubtasksFor the job that is really five jobs, so half-done looks different from not started.
RecurringThe weekly clean, the monthly filter change — it creates itself instead of being remembered.

Who moved it, when, and from where

Every task keeps its own history: moved between columns, reassigned, re-dated, re-prioritised. It is not there to police anybody — it is there so that «I thought you had it» has an answer, and so a task that has been pushed four times is visibly a task that keeps being pushed rather than a task that is nearly done.

The number it surfaces

How much is open, how much lands on time, and what nobody owns

A board full of cards feels like progress. These are the numbers that say whether it is.

23Open tasks
86%Closed on or before the due date
9Recurring tasks that created themselves
5Open with nobody assigned

A task with no name on it is a wish. It is the single number on this page most worth driving to zero, and it is also the cheapest — assigning is one click, and the board will keep showing you the count until somebody does it.

Put the work where everybody can see it.
