Purchasing & inventory

What did this product actually cost you?

Lunix works out what to reorder from your own sales, turns it into a purchase order, and keeps the cost attached to the product all the way to the vendor bill.

How it works today

1You reorder from memory, or when a customer asks for something you don't have.
2The order goes out on WhatsApp and gets retyped into a spreadsheet, or nowhere.
3The cost on the product is whatever it was the last time anyone checked.

How it works in Lunix

It works out what to reorder, from your own sales

Automatic Forecast reads how many units actually sold over the days you choose, adds your lead time and the growth you expect, subtracts what is on hand and already incoming — and proposes the order. Each line shows its sales history, and anything you never want reordered goes on the excluded list.

Receive it line by line, as many times as the vendor ships

Partial shipments are normal, so receiving is too: enter the units that actually arrived, per line, as often as you need. Serialised products are received one IMEI at a time, and repair parts land in their own inventory instead of the retail book — so a screen you bought to install never shows up as a screen you can sell.

The cost follows the product, and the bill lands in Accounts Payable

Receiving is what sets the cost, so margin is computed against what you actually paid this vendor, not a number somebody typed once. The unpaid balance sits in Accounts Payable with its due date, and you settle it from the same screen.

The same product, three vendors, three prices

Until now the cost on a product was whatever the last purchase order paid, so two vendors quoting different prices were indistinguishable. Each vendor now keeps its own price list — its own code for the product, its own price, its own lead time — and the order prices itself from the vendor you picked. A vendor who supplies something at a price nobody has recorded yet says exactly that, which is not the same as zero.

Average what you paid, and see the change before you switch

Buy ten at $10 and ten at $5 and you do not own twenty units worth $5. Weighted-average costing values them at the blend. It is a switch, not a default — and before you flip it Lunix shows what your inventory is carried at today, what it would be averaged, and the difference, worked out over the stocked items that have purchase orders behind them.

Coming from Stocky

Shopify retired Stocky. Lunix does the same job — and the one thing Stocky never did.

Stocky closed on 31 August 2026 and took the purchasing side of a lot of shops with it. Here is its feature list against ours, line by line — everything below is live today.

Compared against Shopify's published Stocky documentation before it was retired, checked 10 September 2026. Counting is blind by default — you enter your number before the system shows you its own — and a count can cover one location, one category or one vendor rather than the whole shop.

The number it surfaces

What you owe, what you paid, and what it did to your margin

Accounts Payable answers the first two; profit and margin answers the third, per product, using the cost the purchase order put there. Stocky never had this column.

Costing is a setting, not a law. Out of the box a product carries what the last receipt paid for it; switch on weighted average and it carries the blend of what is actually on the shelf. The screen shows you the difference first, and asks you to confirm it — because it changes your inventory value and your reported margin, and it cannot be undone.

Stop guessing what your inventory cost you.
