How to build a weekly schedule

Most shops work the same week most weeks. Setting the regular hours once means every upcoming week fills itself in, and your job each Friday is the handful of changes rather than the whole grid.

   Open Settings → Weekly Schedule

   This is where staff shifts are planned and published. It is separate from the timesheet, which records what actually happened.

   Set the regular weekly hours first

   Open the regular schedule and set each employee's usual weekly hours. You do this once. From then on upcoming weeks fill in automatically from those hours, and Lunix tells you how many shifts it added.

   Edit only the exceptions

   Adjust the shifts that differ this week — somebody swapping a Saturday, a late opening, a technician in for a big job. Everything you do not touch stays as the regular hours.

   Publish the week

   Click Publish week. Lunix confirms how many shifts were published. Until you publish, you are working on a draft — which is what lets you rearrange a week in front of somebody without them seeing three versions of it.

   Check it against time off

   Approved time off should be reflected before you publish, not after. Publishing a week that has somebody scheduled on a day you already approved off is the mistake this screen is meant to prevent.

   Compare against what actually happened

   The schedule is the plan; the timesheet is the record. Reading them side by side at the end of a week is how you find out whether your regular hours match reality, or whether the same person stays late every Thursday.
