Two small jobs that live in the same place: keeping the list of card readers honest, and ordering the consumables that run out at the worst possible moment.
- 1
Open your terminal settings
From the payments area, open the terminal options. Connected Readers lists what your shop has.
- 2
Connect a new reader
Use Connect terminal reader and enter the reader code shown on the terminal itself. Lunix confirms when the reader is connected. A smart reader — the kind with a touchscreen for the countertop — connects the same way.
- 3
Keep the list accurate
Update a reader when it is moved or renamed, and delete one that has left the shop. A list with three readers when you own two is a list nobody trusts, and it makes a real problem harder to spot.
- 4
Buy supplies
Use Buy supplies to order consumables — receipt paper, label rolls, terminal accessories — from inside Lunix rather than hunting for the supplier who sold you the printer.
- 5
Order before you run out
Paper runs out mid-queue, never at a convenient time. Put a spare roll behind the counter and reorder when you break into it, not when the last one ends.
Pro tips
- Note which reader is at which station. When a terminal misbehaves, knowing whether it is "the one at the repairs desk" saves the first ten minutes of every support conversation.
- Keep one spare roll of everything you print on — receipts and labels. A shop that cannot print a receipt is a shop with a queue.
