Tipping is a store-wide setting that controls what your customers see at checkout. You pick where tips go, the mode (smart / percentage / fixed), and the three preset amounts.
- 1
Open Settings → Payments → Tipping
From the sidebar, click Settings, then Payments. Click the Tipping card (it shows "Enable and configure tipping for customer payments" with an On/Off toggle).
- 2
Turn Enable Tipping on
The configuration panel below expands when the toggle is on.
- 3
Decide where tips go
Pick one option:
- Unassigned Tips — every tip goes into a shared pool, not tied to a specific staff member
- Assign to Staff — the tip is attributed to the staff member who created the order
- 4
Pick a tipping mode
Three options:
- Smart Tips — switches between fixed amounts on small orders and percentages on larger ones (recommended for repair shops where ticket sizes vary widely)
- Percentage — three percentage presets (e.g. 15% / 18% / 20%)
- Fixed Amount — three fixed-currency presets (e.g. $1 / $2 / $5)
- 5
If Smart Tips — set the threshold and both sets of amounts
Smart Tips needs:
- Threshold — the order amount that switches between fixed and percentage (e.g. $30)
- Below Threshold — three fixed-currency amounts shown on orders under the threshold
- Above Threshold — three percentages shown on orders at or above the threshold
- 6
Click Preview
The Preview modal opens showing "Existing Configuration" vs "New Configuration" side by side so you can confirm what changes.
- 7
Click Save Changes
The configuration saves and the next checkout uses your new tip prompts. To see tip totals later, open Tipping → Reports.
Wskazówka dla profesjonalistów
- All currencies in your store use the same tipping option — you cannot have percentage tips in USD and fixed-amount tips in EUR at the same time.
