How to secure your account

Two-factor authentication, passkeys, and locking the app on a shared machine.

Your Lunix account holds your prices, your customers and your money. Three settings cover most of the risk, and two of them take a minute.

  1. 1

    Open Settings → Security

The security screen holds two-factor authentication and passkeys. These protect the account itself, as opposed to what a role is allowed to do inside it.

  2. 2

    Turn on two-factor authentication

Enable two-factor authentication and scan the QR code with an authenticator app, then enter the 6-digit code it shows. From then on signing in asks for a code as well as your password. Keep the backup codes somewhere that is not the phone with the authenticator on it.

  3. 3

Add a passkey for daily use

A passkey lets you sign in with Face ID, a fingerprint or a security key instead of typing a password. Add one per device and name it so you recognise it — "My iPhone", "Counter machine". This is the setting that makes good security also faster than what you were doing before.

  4. 4

    Set the app to auto-lock

Auto-lock locks the app after a period of inactivity, so a counter machine left unattended does not stay open on your reports. Set the period to something short enough to matter — a shop floor is not a private office.

  5. 5

Lock the screen when you step away

There is a manual lock as well. Use it when you leave the counter with a customer nearby. It is faster than signing out and it does not lose what you were doing.

  6. 6

    Remember what security is not

None of this limits what a signed-in employee can do — that is roles and permissions. A cashier with a passkey and 2FA can still see whatever their role allows, so review roles separately.

Wskazówka dla profesjonalistów

  • Turn on 2FA for the owner account first. It is the account that can change plans, see every report and add users, and it is the one worth protecting most.
  • If you lose the device with your authenticator and have no backup code, recovering the account is slow. Save the backup codes when you enable it, not when you need them.
