How to set up your repair services and prices

Build your service list once so a ticket is three taps instead of typing a price from memory.

The jobs you do every day — screen, battery, charging port, water damage — belong in a list with prices attached. Without it every ticket is a cashier guessing, and two staff quote the same repair differently in the same week.

  1. 1

    Open your repair services

Go to Repairs → repair services. This is your menu of jobs, separate from the products you sell.

  2. 2

Add the jobs you actually do

Click New repair service and name it the way a customer describes the problem, not the way a technician does. "Screen replacement" finds itself; "LCD digitizer assembly" does not.

  3. 3

    Price the job

Set what you charge. This is the number that turns up on the ticket, so it should be the price you would say out loud — not a cost, and not an aspiration.

  4. 4

    Start with your top ten

Do not try to enter every possible repair. The ten jobs that make up most of your week cover most of your tickets, and the rest can be added as they come up. A list of two hundred services nobody maintains is worse than a list of ten that is right.

  5. 5

    Keep prices current

When a part cost rises, the service price is the thing to revisit. A service list set once and never touched is where margin goes quietly missing — the part costs more and the ticket still says last year's number.

  6. 6

    Use it on a ticket

When you create a repair you select the issue from this list, and the price comes with it. That is the payoff: the ticket is consistent no matter who wrote it.

Pro tips

  • Prices can still be changed on an individual ticket. The list is the default, not a cage — a difficult job on an unusual device can be quoted higher on the spot.
  • If two technicians disagree about what a job should cost, settle it here rather than at the counter. The list is where that decision belongs.
